Our Stress Relieved SuperTuffDOM^®520 (Drawn Over Mandrel) Alloy Steel tubing insures uniform thickness and strength throughout the piece, which is significantly stronger than that of OEM tie rods. The 1-piece tubes are machined using integral  right and left hand threaded ends, with milled flats for easy on-the-vehicle adjustments. TRAIL PROOF™ (1.125"od x .685"id .220"wall - 9 lbs. per typical 50" tie rod):
A very lightweight, yet strong and resilient tubing best suited for conditions where repeated and significant impacts are not normally anticipated, or where tubing clearance is an issue and cost is a factor.

This entire tube is specifically engineered to incorporate the perfect balance of metallurgical and dimensional qualities which result in the entire tubing's ability to absorb impact shock up to 4" at the center. Actually in testing, increasing the O.D. to 1.25" exhibited premature cracking of the tube under destructive testing while our slightly smaller 1.125" Trail Proof™ stood up just fine! We have found as we increase the O.D. we also had to decrease the I.D. proportionately as well as change the metallurgical properties to retain the resilient qualities our steering systems possess and which Bullet Proof Steering has become famous for. So as the O.D. increases in our larger tubing offerings, the wall thickness increases by DOUBLE.

Our Trail Proof™  selection is a strong, flexible and economical choice for most standard Tie rod, Drag link and Track bar applications. While our next level of tubing, the Race Proof™  version will also flex before bending, it would take about three times more effort to do so, and the Rock Proof 3 times more than that again. Even when opting for larger selections at the tie rod, the Trail Proof is still preferred as the Drag link selection.

RACE PROOF™ (1.375"od x .375"id .375"wall - 17 lbs. per typical 50" tie rod):
A conservatively weighted but seriously strong upgrade best used in conditions where although weight and tubing clearance is somewhat of a concern, yet can not be compromised by strength. If weight or clearance is not a factor then the Rock Proof™  selection would be the best overall solution as it's only a few dollars more, only a little bigger and only weighs a little more.

While the center of the tubing is incredibly strong, "fuse points" are purposely engineered and machined into the tubing ends, so that in the case of a hard solid impact near the knuckle, the tubing will have a tendency to "give" before the knuckle or other hardware might otherwise fail. Here is a perfect example of just that.

Our formidable Race Proof™ selection is a seriously stout but conservatively weighted choice for most heavy duty Tie rods, and optional for Drag link and Track bar applications if bends are needed or simply for the huge, muscle bound "look" this tubing exhibits.

ROCK PROOF™ (1.500"od x .500"id .500"wall - 26 lbs. per typical 50" tie rod):
Our heaviest and strongest offering providing maximum strength and resilience where weight and tubing clearances are not an issue. Best used where repeated impacts are anticipated. This is without a doubt, the "best of the best!"
