Our custom steering systems can be rounded out with a compliment of our custom pitman, steering arms and track bar drop brackets. Along with our standard pieces, our custom arms and brackets are manufactured to exacting specifications and designed for specific applications where absolutely nothing else will do. High quality materials and precision finishing are incorporated into every product we produce.
These arms and brackets are certainly no exception! Be sure to use exactly the correct type, drop and degree arm or bracket your application requires. Give us a call if you're not sure… we'll be glad to assist you in your quest for excellence!
NOTE: All custom Pitman & Steering arms are powdercoated in Titanium Silver to match our Bullet Proof Steering Systems
WE DO NOT MAKE PITMAN ARMS IN LENGTHS, SPLINES OR SMALL END TAPERS OTHER THAN SHOWN
FOR FITTMENT TO DIFFERENT APPLICATIONS, REFER TO THE GUIDE FOUND AT THE BOTTOM OF THIS PAGE
Also… the part numbers we list specifically for Early Bronco applications have the drag link pad angled in the PROPER direction, unlike those that use the common 1/2 ton pitman arms which are actual backwards when mounted on an Early Bronco.
Our custom Extreme Performance Pitman Arm™ for the Ford 1/2-tons include several unique features. First, the extreme 4.5" drop at the arm equivocates into the ability to accept at least a 6" suspension lift, or to compliment a highly flexible suspension (most others lifted arms at 3.5"). Secondly, the 12° angle at the drag link connection allows even more clearance for the joint to flex under extreme conditions (most others at 6° angles). Thirdly, the splined end has no 'dead splines', or 'double splines', which allow 360 degree placement of the arm, in finely tunable 10° increments, which results in 36 possible locating positions (most others allow only 4 positions at (90° incriments). This allows perfect positioning of the arm which results in 100% turning radius in both directions, while accurately lining
up the steering wheel and steering components. The splined hub is surface hardened to reduce spline wear when being used on severe duty applications. This particular pitman arm has been prepared for use in our Bullet Proof Steering System™ using 3/4" spherical Rods ends instead of the OEM 5/8" tapered ball joints.
Our custom arms are available in several drag link pitches to provide increased articulation at the pitman arm ball joint. These custom pieces provide maximum joint movement while reducing tie rod to pitman arm interference, commonly associated with low lifts and knuckle-over-tie-rod steering systems, such as our Bullet Proof Steering Systems™. These high quality arms can also be had with 36 increment Multi-Indexed™ positioned splines as well as pre-drilled for our Bullet Proof Steering Systems. These specialized pitman arms can fit those demanding applications where simply nothing but the absolute best will do.
'66-'77 Bronco Pitman arms have the "correct" angle at the drag link attachment, for arms facing toward the back of the vehicle.
Whenever a drop pitman arm is used on a vehicle utilizing a track bar, that track bar also needs to be dropped to insure proper steering geometry. Our welded track bar drop brackets for the Ford 1/2 ton and Broncos drop the bar 2.900", which will correct the geometry with all of our steering and pitman arms. This will reduce bump steer.
Dropping the track bar any further could result in excessive leverage being stressed upon the frame rail, possibly fatiguing the frame, resulting in cracking or bending of the frame rail. This recommended maximum drop also insures clearance between the bracket and other front end components under full suspension compression.
These heavy duty steel brackets directly fit the stock frame bracket with no welding. All hardware is included. It is recommended that the drop pitman and track bar bracket be used with lifts over 2".
